Hello everyone! Today, we want to talk to you in Obss about this new feature that Microsoft Intune has released in preview phase, which we find very interesting.

In the current paradigm of modern work solutions, ensuring the security and compliance of our devices is basic. Today within the world of Microsoft Intune solutions, let’s review those proactive actions that keep your devices under control. Before we get into the Gordian knot of the issue of manual triggers, let’s take a moment to understand the importance of solutions in fortifying our digital landscapes.

Remedies, in the context of Microsoft Intune, are preventative measures intended to address security, configuration and compliance issues on Windows devices. They serve as a first-line defense, ensuring that your device fleet remains resilient against potential threats. While Intune automates most of these actions through policies, there are scenarios in which a manual trigger becomes essential, either to troubleshoot or respond to an immediate security issue.

While it is true that the update should be automated, I leave you my guide to Windows AutoPatch, as a second check solution, we can use this one.

Manual activation of solutions: step by step

Navigate to the Intune Portal: log in to the Microsoft Endpoint Manager administration center and select “Devices” from the left menu and then select “Windows”.

From the list of your devices, choose the one on which you want to run the fix:

Now click on the 3 dots in the top menu, if the “Run Remediation” option is not yet visible. Then click on “Run Remediation (Preview)”:

Now we select the solution you want to run manually from the list. As we can see in the example, we are going to activate the “Windows client restart notification” (will trigger a Windows Toast notification if the device has not been restarted for at least 14 days) manually on this device

Once we have clicked on “Run Remediation (Preview)”, Intune will prompt the device to run the fix immediately and confirm it with a notification in the portal:

Sooner or later the script will start running on the device.

Summary

In the ever-evolving landscape of IT security, having the ability to manually trigger Intune Remediations adds a layer of control and responsiveness. Whether it’s addressing an urgent security vulnerability or tweaking device settings, this feature allows administrators to stay one step ahead. As we conclude our journey into the realm of manual solutions, remember that knowledge and adaptability are the keys to a robust modern work environment. Stay alert, stay safe and continue to empower your digital workspace with Microsoft Intune.

See you on the Networks!
